Blackpool is easily accessible from all parts of the country, and it has good road, rail and air links. The M55 links the town with the M6, four trains an hour connect to the town from Preston Station with direct trains from York too, Blackpool's airport has a scheduled service from a range of national and international locations. There's a coach station in the centre of the town and the resort is also near to some of the major ferry ports.
The M55 links Blackpool with the M6 motorway, and the town is easily accessible by road. For detailed directions from your location, the AA, RAC, and Multimap all offer route planning. If you're travelling by road and using a satellite navigation system, the postcode of the Hotel is FY4 1AR.
National Express coaches operate to Blackpool throughout the year from most of their 1500 destinations served within the UK. Further details are available from any National Express Agent, or the Enquiry Centre, telephone 08705 808080. Travel by coach is 4–5 hours from London.
Travel by train is 3 hours from London. "Pendolino" trains connect at Preston with four services an hour to Blackpool North, and an hourly service connects the Blackpool South station to Colne and Preston. Services to Blackpool North include those from:

(For those coming by train we recommend you travel to Blackpool North Station then grab a cab to the Hotel. Although Blackpool South is just a walk away there are a number of stairs to negotiate out of the station)
Blackpool International Airport is only 2.5 miles from the town centre. The airport's well served by local and national bus services. Scheduled services include flights from Dublin, the Isle of Man, and Belfast, as well as international destinations. Jet2, Manx2, Aer Arran, and Flybe and Loganair are some of the operators with services to Blackpool's airport. Manchester International Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport are both also with 70 miles of Blackpool, and serve worldwide destinations.
Blackpool is also within reach of a number of ferry ports with crossings from Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Netherlands, including Fleetwood, Liverpool, Holyhead, and Heysham.
Most rooms at the Colonial are en-suite but there are 8 rooms which have either a seperate or a shared bathroom. Some rooms have sea views. En-suite rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Rooms sleep from one to six people and we have arranged a 'No single supplement' deal. All rooms are centrally heated and offer Tea/Coffee making facilities and colour TV. The Colonial Hotel has 3 floors accessible by stairs and an elevator.
Booking must be done through IIH UK and not direct with the Colonial Hotel. To book please e-mail secretary@iih.org.uk putting 'Weekender 2010 in the subject line. Please include all names and ages of those attending including all children and babies. Please state if you want a family room (sleeps 3 - 6) or if you require seperate rooms please state how many rooms you require and the occupants of each room. Children under 16 years of age must share with an adult. There is no single supplement. Once booked you will receive your unique booking reference, just pay your deposit of £25.00 per person (children 0-5 are free and do not require a deposit) to IIH UK either by cheque to IIH UK, 31 Wellington Street, St. Johns, Blackburn. BB1 8AF or into our bank account at Nat West, Account number: 33607184 Sort Code: 60-40-09. Don't forget to quote your unique booking reference in all correspondence. Once payments have cleared you will be sent your 'Booking Confirmation' by e-mail. Balances to be paid to the Hotel on arrival. (All balances that are paid by cheque must be sent to the hotel 2 weeks before arrival).
